Spring Break in Arizona

Last night we got home from one of the best weeks I have had in a long time. We went to Arizona for spring break to meet up with my family and visit some of my extended family we haven't seen in a long time. We were constantly doing fun things. I moved to Utah when I was 10, but most of my relatives live in Arizona, so growing up I didn't know what it was like to have family close by. It was so amazing to feel so cared about by so many people. While we were there, there wasn't a day that went by that someone didn't call and want to see us, or take us to get something to eat. Jaxson got to meet his great grandparents for the first time too. He was such a good baby, even though he didn't get as much sleep as he was used to. The 85-90 degree weather wasn't too horrible either :)




For the first few days we were there my parents and most of my brothers and sisters were there too. They met us there since my grandpa and grandma hadn't met my niece either, and to spend Easter together. This is my brother Matt, Danny, my Dad, and my grandpa. Check out my grandpa's guns!!

We had a big BBQ with all the family at my Aunt Diane's house on Easter and celebrated my Grandma's birthday as well. Happy Birthday grandma!!




One of the first things we did in AZ was go to the park to enjoy the nice weather. Danny enjoyed it more than the kids.




Danny was excited to find out my Uncle's dad and grandpa were dentists. This is the sign that used to hang outside their office. Yes, that was his real name.



Easter Morning

We celebrated our first Easter with Jaxson. It's funny how the thing he liked most was a little toy that was $1.50. I would love it if he stayed that easy to please his whole life :)

Jax also met his other great-grandma, we call her grannie. We miss not seeing her very often.




I thought it was so cute when we were visiting Grandma and she gave Jax a big kiss on the cheek and left a kiss mark.

This was so amazing to me... For work my Aunt takes care of handicapped people. One person she takes care of is a blind girl named Susan. Susan was so sweet and it was so incredible to me that to stay entertained she does 55 piece puzzles. She separates them into piles and slowly figures it out. It was amazing.


Baths

We stayed in a house that my parents own in Mesa while we were there. It is the house that I lived in for the 10 years I lived there. This is Jaxson taking a bath in the same tub I took baths in when I was a baby.

Growing up, every time we would go to my grannies house we would love to take a bath in her big tub. Jax got to play in it now too!



Unprepared

So we were driving home yesterday and shortly after feeding Jaxson we realized we were out of diapers. We were in the middle of no where and he was stinky....great. We found some tiny town a few miles off the freeway that was so run down Danny claimed the only people who lived there are illegal aliens and murderers. We found some though at a tiny market ran by a very friendly Middle Eastern family. We tried to ignore the fact that the diapers were quite rough and had Mexican cartoon characters all over them. When we got home though shortly after, the rash that they gave him was inexcusable. Luckily, the rash is almost gone and the remaining diapers are being thrown away.

What a Fun Weekend

This weekend was so fun. We saw two great movies (August Rush and Dan in Real Life), went to dinner with Patrick, Kera and Haidyn, went for our first family run along Chrissy Field, shopping at Sports Basement, and then went to Rodeo Beach with the Gordon's. It was a great pre-spring break/finals week weekend.

Jax put his feet in the ocean for the first time... we probably shouldn't have done that. It was so cold he started bawling. Yeah, great first time experience.

He also felt the sand on his bare feet for the first time. It was the cutest thing watching him wiggle his little toes in the sand trying to figure out what it was.

Mindi and I had our babies just a few weeks apart. Her little Molly is so sweet.

Even though it wasn't a very long beach trip we sure had fun!

This weekend Jaxson also went swimming for his first time and he LOVED it! I really debated for a long time about if I was going to post this pic or not though. You see, the pool had signs up everywhere saying that there weren't any cameras allowed, but come on, we had to document his first time swimming! We pretended we didn't see the signs and tried to quickly get a shot, but the lifeguard was faster. After some schmoozing he let us take only one. Of coarse I have to look super chubby and totally haggard...wonderful... I guess one picture is better than nothing.

A New Favorite

We recently got an Exersaucer for Jaxson and he LOVES it! It is my new favorite thing to watch him play in it. It is so funny, I will put him in it and he will start playing with whatever is in front of him, then he will accidentally hit one of the toys next to what he was already playing with and get really excited about the new toy. Then, while playing with the second one, he will bump the one next to it and will throw his arms out and get really excited again at the new toy. He will continue this going round and round. It is so cute. Even once he has made a full lap around all the toys, he still acts like it is the first time he has ever seen all of the toys every time he comes across a new one. I just love it. He will also hit the buttons that play songs and bounce back and forth while they play. Man, babies are so entertaining.









Before I write about this pic I need to mention that Jaxson's skin isn't usually this discolored. He was just screaming his head off a few min before this pic was taken, so his face is still a little blotchy. Why is it that a baby can be totally fine one second, then all the sudden they see their bottle being made and they scream like they haven't eaten in days??

Anyway... back to the explanation. Sometimes I wonder if I am a bad mom. For example, the other day we were at a friends house, and their little girl who is a few weeks older than Jax was holding her bottle by herself and even sitting up for a while on he own. I was amazed (and admittingly slightly jealous) at her skills, and mentioned how Jaxson isn't doing that yet. Then the next day, I was feeding him and let him try it out on his own and he could do it! I wonder how long he has been able to do that and I haven't been giving him the chance to perfect the skill. So then, I said, "well if you can hold your bottle, maybe you can sit." I put him on the floor and TUDAH, he sat up for like 45 seconds. I feel like a bad mom since I haven't been practicing with him more, and didn't know he could do that. Oh well, I guess I know now.

What a Waste!!!

Can I have that 88 min. of my life back???? Oh, and the $4.99 we paid to order it On Demand.
